Ok folks, I’m hitting you with 2 journal entries a day until I’m caught up. Stay tuned.
January 6 & 7, 2014 – Day 1 & 2
So, in order to really shut off the faucet, I decided that a two-day pre-diet cleanse was the way to go. A break from food would help get my mind and spirit right so I jumped right in with a GNC Pre-diet cleanse. You basically sip it throughout the day and unlike some other cleanses you can have fruit, veggies and even broth to take the hunger edge off. I’ve done it before and it made sense since I really need to swiftly breakup with the holiday eating pattern.
Even though I was on the cleanse, I still started Focus T25. The workout was high impact the whole time and I was impressed that I didn’t tap out. Shaun T has two check off boxes on his progress sheet. One is nailed, the other is barely made it. I checked off barely made if for both days because, no lie, it was a tough workout for someone who is almost in the deuces in terms weight. However, to my credit, I started out following the modifier on the DVD and sometimes I challenged myself to follow Shaun T and push myself. So far so good!
January 8 & 9, 2014 – Day 3 & 4
Just how out of shape am I?
I did the Total Body Circuit and wanted to punch Shaun T in the face for those damn burpees! I really can’t do those things, so I went to my modifier friend Tanya. I did give them a try, but there are two things I don’t want to happen during this 10-week challenge and they are 1) I don’t want to get sick and 2) I don’t want to get injured. I did give it a try. If I am ever able to do those things that will be something worth videotaping. Hold me two it people.
Now that I’m off the cleanse I’m eating full meals again. I am following the Focus T25 Fast Track which consist of 1,100 calorie a day. Throughout this blog I have pics of what I’ve been eating on the nutrition plan.
The food is tasty and low sodium. I went the extra mile to really stick to organic fruits and veggies that are on the Dirty Dozen list. I like eating healthy but when I saw the portion size for one, I realized how much I was overeating, Let me give you an example.
One of the recipes, Turkey Goat Cheese and Avocado Rolls, called for chopped walnuts as an ingredient. When I looked at how much walnut need, I noticed that the amount was half a teaspoon, chopped. You read it right – HALF A TEASPOON. That is approximated 3/4 of one walnut. I had to laugh when I found myself chopping one walnut. Hahaha! The recipe was delicious. The walnut added just the right amount of crunch. It really was enough and is one of my favorites so far.
I must say that on Thursday when I did the Ab Interval workout, I really felt waaaaaay out of shape! Maybe that’s because I AM. I’m a little hard on myself, but I know that over time I will get stronger and I will be able to complete the workouts more efficiently.
Friday, January 10, 2014 – Day 5
Double Day Friday
Oh yeah. I forgot about this Double Day Friday deal. In short, you have the option of doing two twenty-five minute workouts. Double Day Friday is not an option for me. These ARE the program, so I will do it like every other day’s workout. I assume that you can break them up, but I wanted to get it out of the way, so I did them back to back. I ran out of gas and just tried to get through the second workout. It was very tough to do two workouts. Today’s workout was Lower Focus and the optional second workout was Cardio. I did it though. I hope it gets easier.
I take my measurements tomorrow and I am excited to just chart the progress. I’m not expecting grand results. Plus when I start a program, I have lots of water weight loss first and then after that it’s half a pound to 2 lbs a week if I’m lucky. My workout journey is going to be long. Hard work and calorie restriction will be my life for a long time. Right now, I’m feeling ok with that. One day at a time.
